Anyone excited for this? They are pretty good value and should bring the prices of intel cpus back in line. :D

can't wait I can still remember the first athlon thunderbirds 1.2ghz , the barton 2500k and the a64 3200 all game changers.
My fx8350 has served me well but I have had it for 4 years now and I am itching to upgrade

sounds like a 1700 or a 1600 would be a nice upgrade for you :)

all of them so far are 8c16t so ya. 1800X@£490>6900K@£950, 1700X£400>6800K£i dont even know how much these are lol and 1700 none x@£320 >>>>>> 7700K@£330 the 7700k only has 4 cores and the amd is cheaper for 2x the cores :P

also single thread performance on the amd seem slightly less, but from the cinebench screens i have seen it looks like amd's smt (hyperthreading) is better than intels

Just been reading the reviews, wonder why the gaming benchmarks are low and everything else is ok? Hope they can sort it as the AM4 platform is young. Reminds me of AMD cpu's in the past....... :problem: A very fast chip tho thats for sure!! :)

the smt makes it slower in some games and it does have the raw clock speed of the intel. tbh the smt works really well, eve better than intel ht in apps where it is working. as a benching cpu its good and also for people who do a lot of multi tasking it is great. i think it was more to compete with 6900k and 6800/6850k than 7700K, it also brings down intels price, which is a nice change.

Yer thats what we have all needed, intel forced to drop prices, im glad AMD has bought a proper fight to the table, next up is Ryzen 5 and Vega. Two price/performance wars against 2 greedy companys and about time! :D

tbh if I still had my 4690k I would of jumped onto this straight away.

Having my 5820k seems pointless upgrading anytime soon.

Looks a cracking chip and setup though, glad AMD are back in the scene.

just got my motherboard back from RMA so i started benching with the cpu again, this time i have done a bit of 3d benching.

http://hwbot.org/submission/3494544_

so the performance in vantage is around the same as a 6 core intel chip, i presume the vantage is not taking advantage of the smt fully.

http://hwbot.org/submission/3494548_

http://hwbot.org/submission/3494550_

for firestrike the 1800X at just over 4ghz is pretty much the same or a bit faster than my 5960x was at 4.75ghz. please note that my ram is not b die, so the max speed i can run on my asus prime x370 pro is 2400mhz, but i can get it to run 14-14-14-28 1T whereas the 5960x i was running the same ram kit over 3000mhz.

i am just waiting for a new bios to come out before i go harder on the 2d again as there is high risk of asus boards bricking themselves. i am also hoping amd will sort out memory support so i can run my ram at higher speed. my kit is 3866mhz xmp so 3000-3200 should be easy. If this doesnt happen i will have to get some samsung b die.

great stuff men! would be cool to get a golden 1800x that does 45x or so :D:D it would wreck intel hahaha :D:D
I know it is probly not gonna happen... but who knowes what the future has in store now that AMD is back in bussiness!

well if you look at how 5960x increased in speed for 4.2-4.4ghz average to start with, then j batch and later models were doing 4.6ghz+ no problem, so maybe later chips and later bios will get a couple 100mhz extra :) i think 4.2-4.4ghz could be possible. if not ryzen 2 has plenty of clock speed headroom to grow :D

did a firestrike run last night with rx480 cf
this is my highest score from last night with the 1800X on air cooling at 4.111ghz
Image

here is my old score with the 5960X@4.76ghz under water
Image

i have no idea why, but the gpu score was lower on the ryzen system, but as you can clearly see the cpu is faster in both the physics test and combined test.

I must say this was not consistent though and the combined score on the ryzen ranged from 8300 to 9400, so it took a lot of runs to get this score, i also had to run with the 5960x a few times to get a good score but it was definitely more consistent than the ryzen chip, idk if this was to do with my older amd driver and older version of 3d mark or if it will be fixed later with a bios update. I should also mention that the ryzen was only running a ram speed of 2400mhz as i have Samsung e die and it will not post at a higher speed. Also when i was using the 5960x i used the same 2x4gb memory kit in dual channel, as this is the only ddr4 i have had, but it was running at 3000mhz on x99, so it had a bit of a speed advantage.

Another interesting thing is that the 6950x is a bit slower in fs with rx480 cf due to the ht not working in the combined test, so it works out better to turn it off as you can see on buildzoid's score here:

My GPU score was always low on my 8320 @ 5.1ghz, even though the CPU score was very good. To this day I don't know why.
