I'd feel bad for you I really would. But...

For two years I lived with my lady in her house in Dorset and it was a nightmare. This was a £650k farm house but it was remote as fook. That means no proper heating (oil, at around £950 a tank..) and crap internet. When I say crap internet I mean £40 a month for 2mb if you're lucky with a 100gb cap. And to make matters worse our phone lines were 1/3 of a mile long before they reached the main telegraph pole was under a big tree which used to drop branches and snap our lines. It used to take over a week for BT to come out..

So I won't feel sorry for you

Joking aside though I never ever thought I would need a good up speed but bugger me it's lovely. Mate needed Windows 8 pro the other day took me about ten minutes to upload it haha.

Ha ha :D

No worries, that sounds a nightmare :o

I am still waiting for FTTC to come, the cabinets are there but waiting for openreach to enable them, at the moment the end of June, tempted to jump to Virgin.

High speeds sounds good :D

Day to day use it's no better than 8mb tbh. It's only when I need a game or something and see it hitting 8m down that I realise what I have.

We got a good deal on Plusnet. We paid the line rental up front and for 12 months it's £12.50 a month. Then it goes to £25 for three months, then £35 for the last three. However it's still cheaper than Talktalk around here (I used to live two miles away and the best available is Talktalk LLU 8mb for £35 a month with phone line so the same only slower).

Not sure I will keep it after 18 months really. Might just drop to a 30mb. Thankfully where I am now has it all really.

Well the box has been put in at the end of my road, so now just waiting for it to be connected :D

Any one know how long it normally takes or is that a piece of string question?

I'd still rather have the extra upload tbh.

I used to use newsgroups.. I'd have loved a download like that then :D

Once the box is finished BT usually quote up to 30 days to turn up and connect it. Even though we went with Plusnet BT were responsible for connecting it all up and we have an Openreach modem with BT on it.

Cheers Andy. I don't mind waiting a little longer, as I have waited long enough.

DL a real file as that speed is not possible as the Config file is not even that high with the added overheads.

Or even post the same Speedtest link as above as a rough guide, I get 158-162Mb/s max in all tests or real DL's.

I was working in belfast a few days last week. 3G on my phone was twice as fast at loading web pages than my bt adsl connection at home. Oh the joys of living in the sticks.

No. I refuse to make it real. Newsgroups says 171 :( Haha

I'll do a real test tonight and probably get 154 really. But can't you just let me have my 10 mins of fame? Damn you

It is murder when you get a game and just want to play but it is 25GB+.... Takes me forever and tethering on a phone works nicely but shouldn't need to do that in a modern society.
