Hi guys,
Have been playing around with my Asus X99E-WS and the Ram G.Skill Ripjaws4 now for some time and there is something i cant wrap my head around. I have 4 x 4GB
1. The XMP timing on the Ram says DDR-3400 CL 16-18-18-38 PC27200
2. I can with ease boot up at ram speed 3000 MHz 16 - 18-18-38 - 1
3. If i set everything in automode at 3000 Mhz the MB will normally choose 16-17-17-38 - 2
4. Meanwhile once booted up I can in memtweakit set the timings to 15-15-15-28 - 1 and it will work like a charm no crashes even during heavy use for 24 hours.
5. for BCLK the ram works better in 125 BCLK as then i can push it to the 3000 Mhz. on 100BCLK it will never go beyond 2800 Mhz.
All of this is run in 1.35 volt as per XMP specs.
Now the question is why cant i get it to ever boot in 3200 or 3400 Mhz seeing that with the timings being so flexible at 3000Mhz. I have tried to increase the voltage to 1.400 Volt and used any of the settings above to test it out. Not that the increase should be needed as the rams are specified to run at 3400 Mhz on 1.35V.
I have also tried to do the same kind of tests with 1 and 2 modules but still see the same result.. no way above 3000 Mhz.
any hints are most welcome.

Re: memory tweaking
Ram may well be 3400 but 3400 is a big ask on x99. Not all chips will do it. You can push sa io and see what happens but you'll probably find somewhere around 3k and tighter more efficient.
