Gubben retires

Post #1 by Rauf » Wed Dec 30, 2015 9:40 pm

I'm sad to inform you that my friend and excellent bencher Gubben will retire from XOC due to health issues. He asked me write here to let you guys know. Doctors don't know what's wrong but he has been ill for some time and is only getting worse it seems. Gubben has reached the age of 62 now and has been a very important person to the Swedish OC community for a long time. He hasn't been much in the spotlight himself but has taught, helped and supported legends like Elmor and Kinc. He is one of the reasons that got me started with benching this year as well.

At least this last year has been a very good one for him with highlights such as:
  • An outstanding win in Challenger 2015 Div IV (AMD) with 606 points in total (out of 625 possible).
  • Reaching 8460 MHz CPU freq with a FX-8320. Tenth place of all time.
  • He holds the global third place in GPU-PI 1B with a 290X.
  • And last but not least he was one of the persons that took little Sweden to a third place in Country Cup this year. Although he could not bench as much as he had wanted due to his health.

I hope you get better Gubben and hope that you will be able to make a comeback some day!

That is very sad news. Although I never spoke with you, it's a sad day. I hope you recover and are able to return soon.

God bless.

Talked to him last week and he was feeling a little better. Still don't know what is wrong though.

I was meeting Gubben Monday in sundsvall(city) in sweden. He is way better now then in early december.

But he will lay low with ln2 before they know what the problem is. If it is done with ln2 he will bench with cascade and coldwater etc instead.(still extreme)

So he will likly bench more points to the team in the future with or without LN2.( Depends on doctors outcome)

MY gut says Gubben retires only when to weak to pour Ln2 or lift evap head
