Battlefield 1 Wednesday Evenings

Post #1 by Jam0r » Tue Oct 18, 2016 10:31 am

So are we going to get this started again? Will people stop bumming ARK and come and play?

I had a few hours on the game last night and well..

It's not worth £65, grab the basic version
Performance is 'ok' but I can see myself needing a better CPU as i'm at 100% on all cores
Maps are SOOO much better than the crap choosen in the beta
    Weapons are good
Not a tank fest like BF4, more infantry based

I'll grab a few more hours tonight (even though it's not Wednesday) but can see it being fairly decent tbh.

ahh man lol I have just spent £65 on this just now so I can play it early lol its downloading as I type,i had the cash spare in the bank doing nothing so thought why not :) I LOVED the beta though so I'm sure I wont be disappointed,i got quite good frames maxed out on the beta so I'm guessing I should get more in the full game? I had my Athlon 860k then as well,i bloody hope I get more frames than the beta anyway as ive upgraded cpu since then lol

So lets give my opinion on this...

Played both the BF1 betas and I enjoyed the first, hated the second but that was more down to the map used. I had mixed performance on the betas (4690k overclocked, 16GB ram, 1070) and sometimes I'd get 120fps and other times i'd end up dropping to 40-70fps. Put this down to it being a beta and that was that.

The full game..

Performance is still an issue for me. It seems to be very CPU intensive and my 4690k is at 100% no matter what GPU settings I use. This causes a wild range of FPS issues, being in the 140s to the low 30s so i've upgraded the CPU, will report back on if that makes a difference.

Game wise, the only thing I have an issue with and it's a very small issue, is the airship and train. They are simply way too OP for what they are and currently, whether it's because the game is still new and people don't know what they are doing, when they arrive no body directs their attention to taking them out so within a few minutes you've gone from being on the winning side to being completely wiped out by cannons from miles above or away.

The classes and weapons are perfect, assault is CQB only with shotguns and sub machine guns. Medics have longer range semi-automatic rifles which offer good medium range firepower but are hopeless against a decent assault player in CQB. So keep your distance

Scouts (snipers) are an interesting one in that they have the usual zoomed single shot rifles but also have non zoomed semi-auto and bolt action rifles. I actually prefer the single shot, M1 garand style of weapons and the scout class has these.

I've not really touched the support class much although I have seen that the BAR is a beast of a gun.

Vehicles are balanced perfect. If you good with them you can survive, if your good as infantry you can take them out. They are not OP and can easily be dealt with by a decent squad.

I'm enjoying this game so far and get an average of at least 70fps on all maps so don't know why yours is not better? I have had the occasional spike drop down to the mid 50fps range but only lasts a second or 2 then jumps back up and it has only happened rarely, graphics are beautiful they really are,i HATE snipers lol and think they are a tad op and it should be made a bit harder for them eg more bullet drop at distance and more lead etc, some games can be frustrating if you get on a "run around like headless chickens" team as no one plays with teamwork like spotting, healing etc but get in a good game and its amazing.

I really really wish they would do away with the quick spawn though and hope they do in a patch so medics have more time to revive and theres more consequence for dying,i think less people would run around like muppets if they had to wait 10 or so seconds to respawn, apart from that I'm loving it,im still noobish though and only rank 8 I think at the moment

I'm struggling with this game at the moment. Can't seem to get a good run going. Classic Battlefield last night i'm shooting someone in the back, they turn round and one shot me. Is it me or is the aiming off on this game.

yep I find some days the hit register is WAY off! other days I have the advantage and I'm killing people quicker than usual, tbh although the game is fun its not as good as previous battlefields imo, it seems more of a mix of the old cod games and battlefront rather than classic battlefield.... its now a reflex twitch shooter and I find it way to fast for a battlefield game, imo it relies more on reflexes than good old skill :(
