I am wondering if this (in the pic) is a problem as when i went to install the block the standard way with the supplied fittings from EK it was not sitting flat on the cpu as in the pic you can clearly see the daylight between the straight edge and the waterblock.Image

Grassy,
Didn't know you frequented MLG, I think you have to decide on lapping that thing or sending it back, there is a method of using something like grid paper holding the block edge to the paper and viewing the reflection of lines from the paper on the block, this shows irregularities on the block surface, but you have the best manicured fingers I have ever seen

Ha them fingers are my daughters as i could not take the picture and hold that thing. I am here from time to time as its a little bit smaller of a forum than ROG but i find a lot of people here that know about the hows and whys of the computer game. Besides even though i am in Australia i was born in Mansfield uk so i have a soft spot for anything that comes out of the uk.(including only fools and horses)I dont spend a lot of time on the forums and use them for a specific purpose only but at the same time i am very appreciative of the comments that are available here.Little fish are sweet.Anyway i have emailed EK and they have informed me that they have received the email and now i will have to wait till monday before i get a comment. I am not in a hurry as i still have to think how to run my loop and thats gonna take 2 days knowing me.Thanks for the reply mate

This is the reply i got from EK EKWB Support (Grega) (EKWB Support)

Hello Alan!

Now the things are clear, I should have asked which CPU do you have, as the Sandy Bridge-E (3960X) are really flat, our EK-Supremacy EVO Elite Edition - Intel 2011 are tuned for Ivy Bridge-E CPUs which don't have a flat IHS and do require a slight bow in the copper base. I'm very sorry for misunderstanding and the troubles that caused to you.

If you agree, we can send you a new jet plate that is tuned for your Sandy Bridge-E and will make your water block perfectly flat so it'll make a perfect contact with your CPUs IHS.

Please let us know how you decide.

Best regards,
Gregor

Most cpus are convex thats why the block is designed like that, although it seems to me that your cpu block is too concave
