win xp drivers 980TI

Post #1 by Flexnl » Thu Oct 08, 2015 7:06 pm

i asked in nvidia chat support if it was possible to get drivers for gtx 980 ti in winxp.
the answer was NO.
but on hwbot for example the number1 score in 3dmark2001 SE is using a 980TI in win XP.
anyone know how to do this?
greets
flex

With the XP64 driver linked in my previous post...try this:

Add this line:
%NVIDIA_DEV.17C8% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17C8

under this section, in nv_dispi.inf:
[NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.5.1]

That should work!

Have you had the chance to try this? I'm interested as I sooner or later will want to bench 980 Ti on XP...

You could try installing the windows 7 driver through device manager (make sure you select the files in the NVIDIA folder in the root of the system partition, where the installer unpacks the inf files etc.). Keep in mind that this method doesn't work for all drivers.

Hmm, seems to be available from techpowerup. Try this:
Latest - 358.50: https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2 ... xp-64-bit/
Older but may be better - 353.62: https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2 ... xp-64-bit/

i had another go at the whole 980ti on win xp and its working like a charm now :)
just open nv4_dispi.inf located in the extracted driver folder (i used the gtx960 xp drivers)
and put this:

%NVIDIA_DEV.13C2% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13C2
%NVIDIA_DEV.13C0% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13C0
%NVIDIA_DEV.17C8% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17C8
%NVIDIA_DEV.17C2% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17C2
%NVIDIA_DEV.17F0% = Section012, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17F0
%NVIDIA_DEV.17F0% = Section012, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17F0

under [NVIDIA_Devices.NTx86.5.1]

And this:

NVIDIA_DEV.13C2 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970"
NVIDIA_DEV.13C0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980"
NVIDIA_DEV.17C8 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti"
NVIDIA_DEV.17C2 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X"
NVIDIA_DEV.17F0 = "NVIDIA Quadro M6000"

in the same file but under [Strings].
save and done :)
