Post #1 by Gregster » Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:29 pm

Looks like pre-orders will start on the 6th Jan for the consumer version of the Rift. I will be jumping on this right away. Fantastic tech :)

Anyone else or just me being full geek?

Price unconfirmed but they have said they are going to sell at cost, so I imagine around the £400 mark personally.

Two? now that would be cool, quadraphonic stereo for those with eyes in the back of their head. Simultaneously watching your six while attacking the guy in front.

Re: Oculus Rift

Post #8 by Scotchjock » Tue Nov 29, 2016 9:04 pm

I held off this for so long but I just couldn't ignore it any longer so I finally purchased my rift and first impressions (terrifying) I booted up "Ultimate booster" and "no limits 2 roller coaster" and was left a nervous wreck lol, it really did frighten me and my first thought was to get rid. Curiosity forced me to continue and try other experiences so I browsed through the oculus store and installed a few bits including Lucky's tale which was bloody brilliant, I then tried "Starfighter Arduxim" and liked it although looking down made my legs go jelly lol.
Next up was"Apollo 11 experience which wasn't that impressive for me except for the bit where I again turned to jelly when the view switched to the top of the rocket and again I stupidly looked down although the feeling wasn't as scary as the first two outing in my VR world.
Then I was blown away with Aerofly FS2 after increasing the resolution with the oculus debug tool, this thing really felt like I was flying a plane and while it's far from perfect it left me with a very big smile on my face ;-))

Then the experiences just got better, I tried "The body VR" and was left with my jaw touching the floor, for those who don't know, it's a journey through the human body while some geezer explains what's going on, awesome visuals. then it was time to play a game in the human body in the form of "Incell" where you race the viruses and have to beat them to stop them from destroying the cell. I could go on about other very good experiences I've now had but I'll just list the ones I thought was bloody awesome.

Seal delivery vehicle

Farlands

Thrills and chills roller coasters.....phew!!!

Lost

So, after coming very close to selling my rift on day one I now couldn't imagine not having it. Share your experiences and let me know what other games, apps, experiences are worth a go.
Oh, just one other thing, can someone tell me how to get Assetto Corsa working in VR? when I start it I just get it on a cinema style screen. Thanks.

Got it off Amazon for 549 may get the touch controllers later down the line.

Been playing Elite Dangerous and Eve Valkyrie, both stunning in VR, the sheer scale of objects and planets are truly mind blowing, to be honest it feels a little scary for me lol, Dirt Rally is fun too.

Some more free stuff that I thought was really good....

Senza Peso, this was stunning.

Calling all VR fans, you guys just gotta try AIRCAR, it's only a VR experience demo but you do have full control of your vehicle, absolutely bloody stunning. Download it for free, available on the Oculus store.

A bargain at that price, I just couldn't imagine not having VR, some stunning games and experiences to be had and quite a few of those are free, just check some of em out.

Lucky's Tale, fantastic VR platformer

Echo Arena, a stunning anti grav game

Aircar, you'll be blown away by this.

Dead and Buried, be a gunslinger in VR

Robo Recall, just amazing

Bullet Train, give this a quick blast before jumping into Robo Recall.

Spider Man, a short VR experience but so cool.

Google Earth VR

Showdown

these are just off the top of my head so feel free to jump in and add what I have missed.

Recommended paid games and experiences I think are just a must have.

Space Pirate Trainer.

Lone Echo

The Blu

Ocean Rift

Discovering Space

Drop Dead

G2A Land, includes a roller coaster ride, an epic underwater experience, a shooting range, a Batman bike ride and a cinema experience.

Zombie Riot

Eve Gunjack

Tilt Brush

Ultra Wings

Salvo

Unruly Ghouls

Blaze Rush

Elite Dangerous

Dirt Rally

Aerofly FS2

Ultimate Booster

Again just off the top of my head.
