I do like the look of those R9 290x, just a bit out of my price range at the moment.

OK decided to play with my workstation. I really shouldn't, as data loss would be horrible but I can't resist it.

System (those CPU temps don't rise lol)

And here he is today :)

OK. I can't do 880 mhz on stock volts for 3dm11 as the PC will reboot mid bench (always test two..) but here are some results.

That 480 is a beast, good card. My 460 which i use downstairs still kicks butt and it is very quiet.

Cheers guys. I had my old EVGA stock 480 to 960mhz on a Antec Kuhler. We're talking 7970 scores.. Thing was just barbaric. I'd love to do the same to the Lightning but the rail layout on the Dell PSU (it's the 875w 80+ silver one they put in Alienwares) is pretty weird. At first the card would not even run stock clocks until I ran some new grounds back to the PSU. The PSU in the Dell has been severely heavily modified, as I had to fit an extra 6 pin and 8 pin back to the PSU as it just didn't have them. Wasn't an issue, I just used the secondary EPS 8 pin (for when the machine runs dual CPUs) and it's fine.

Sadly I can't get any more out of it without the PC resetting :( I really can't be assed peeing around with the PSU any more tbh. I've been pretty darn naughty, because this thing is my workstation I use to code front ends for an emulator my friend writes. As such it contains a lot of work that I shouldn't be risking :D

I'll no doubt do one of my other rigs soon :) I'll also post a few pics of the Sagaris being built. It's still not finished....
