Started driving at 17 in my own car a Vauxhall Victor estate old C reg 1964 17 years old, it jumped out of 2nd gear all the time so I had to hold it in until 3rd, the gear axle whined like a wailing banshee, I drove this with anyone I could find to sit at the side of me then just before my 18th birthday I booked a driving instructor to use his car for my test he refused to let me try to reverse and said would I like lessons when I fail, I told him I had no plans to fail, When I had passed he never spoke to me all the way home!!
Then 1/2 an hour later I called to see my friend to tell him the news and got my first parking ticket.

2nd car Morris Marina
3rd Morris Marina
4th Daff automatic my Dad wrote it off
5th Ford Escort
6th Vauxhall Cavalier one of best cars ever I spent over £2000 on it from 1982 when I bought it until 1986 when I sold it because of petrol prices and we had just bought our house.
7th Nissan 1000cc cherry
8th Renault can't remember
9th Nissan Sunny
1oth Austin Princess
11th Austin Princess
12th Vauxhall Cavalier
13th Audi Quattro
14th Triumph Dolomite
15th Austin Marina
16th Allegro
17th VW Golf Yreg the newest car I ever had. 3 years old
18th Citroen BX
19th Citroen BX worst cars ever
20th Ford Sierra estate
21st VW Golf
22nd VW Passat newest car 11 months old
23rd VW Sharan Newest car 6 months old
24th VW Sharan I had this tuned it had so much power it would wheelspin in 3rd gear, took me ages to learn to put the power down gently 179BHP at the wheels, one of the UK's top tuners RS Tuning in Leeds said it was the most powerful VW engines he has ever seen and he said it has to be the fastest people carrier in the UK, he had it on his website for a while, it was in VW Driver magazine on 2 occasions.
25th Ford Galaxy Ghia current car probably the most comfortable ever and gets there without a fuss also tuned shows 175BHP and if it is then about 100 of them are dead because this is like a snail compared to the old Sharan, but I know about dyno's and how easily they are to fix the figured the first 15-20 years of my employment was tuning racing motorcycle engines, I've worked on dozens of British champions and a few World Champions machinery.
In my day it was making or changing parts or reworking them today it's almost always PC tuning with software Diesels go the best with huge increases in torque.
Amen.

Only had 9 cars over my 20 years of driving..Loved my Cavalier SRI, had some good times driving it around. In till one night i looked out of my window, and two scumbags were trying to nick it. Chased them off with my German sheppard down the road. Rang the police, and they decided to turn up the next day, because they were busy  . Anyway found out my engine was on order, to be put in a Vauxhall nova. So i got rid of it pretty quick, before they came back and had another goe..

We have a Mini one. 1.6l IIRC, same drivetrain as the Cooper. It's still relatively new, 2009 IIRC but she's only done about 30k. It's well looked after too, so absolutely spotless.

Not terribly exciting but that's mid life for you :D

I used to drive a Hyundai Tiburon (US version of the Coupe) with the 2l four banger turbo charged. Quick little motor (around 170 BHP) and handled like a Go Kart.
