Extreme Cooling

Post #1 by richardjparsons » Wed Jun 01, 2016 5:39 pm

Been reading about extreme cooling (using nitrogen and helium etc.) after getting an engineering degree, I understand all the principals, but don't understand what sort of hardware is needed if you're making the move (from water to extreme).

I'm guessing blocks, fittings and pipes are all the same. As they won't have an excessive amount of thermal expansion. But what about reservoirs, pumps and radiators? That aren't built for that kind of temperature? Is the idea to have different components for each cooling method?

Can anyone help me out? I'm still kind of hazey on the whole subject.
