Re: 5870 tweaking etc

5870's don't have OCP or OVP problems, I think you can even run really high volts through them on LN2 w/o mods.

It's all about finding one that clocks high :)

Re: My X99 has some problems

OV error in aisuite? Or at bios post?

Aisuite is pooooo, I've gotten OV varnings, temp warnings, unstable volt varnings. Don't know how Ausuite measures temps but when you get -100C on cpu on water there's something that's not quite correct :P

Re: My X99 has some problems

I am sure I over tighten my mount every time. It's defiantly a habit I would like to brake. How many PSI should be on the socket any way? I did that alot to, even bent some pins that way. Now i just tighten very little. It would be handy to have a really small torque wrench so you get exactly the s...

Your results in aida are good. What you would expect. I can post my results with my quad psc which is basically the fastest ddr3 you can get.

I belive your ram has Qimonda IC's, I know nothing about those I'm afraid.

Can you use different VGA's for different benches in the same weekly submissions? Like one VGA for Aqua and another for the other test.

Try this version of AB, it will give you up to 1.6Vgpu, at least works on ref cards.

Sandro, what's the serial numbers on you ram sticks? And which version is it? It says on the sticks, for example ver. 7.1 and so on.

So we can find out which IC's your sticks have. Also post a screenshot of memtweakit so we can see all the timings.

Nice Paw, didn't think I'd see you using air cooling. I personally use AIO coolers on systems, they're so easy to swap and doesn't take up that much room.

That thermalright cooler I sent you would probably benefit from a good lapping also. Tried it yet btw?

Re: [Guide] Zotac GTX 980 Amp! Extreme edition modding

Vmods are fun, I've recently started modding myself. Starting out with older cards as I'm sure I'll break some of them. Got a GTX8800 modded now, but have plenty others that I'd like to mod.

Post some results when you get some benching done with it.

Re: Haswell -E, actually decently priced !

People have mentioned a PLH? chip that was used on Z97 boards for more lanes. There is no way Intel is going to allow that on X99. Asus WS X99 board has a PLX chip onboard actually :) I've never noticed any difference running PCI-E 3.0 x8 vs x16. The bandwidth you get with x8 is good enough for any...

Re: Coil whine is a problem for everyone

I have not had much of this problem for a long time, it may be as much the quality of the power supply as the card as many people purchase power supplies by rated output wattage and not quality, I could be dead wrong though That might be because you always get the high end good gpus with quality VR...

Re: Coil whine is a problem for everyone

The only cards I've had that's been basically coil whine free. Are asus matrix platium 7970(2 of them) and Asus dcu2 7970. They have solid capacitors and the VRM's are pretty beefy. From what I've heard other high end cards like Msi lightning that also use high end solid caps have little to no coil ...

Re: Question for the wise?

If I remember correctly in the case of the 290's the timings are optimized for the hynix Vram, with optimized timings the elpdia might perform better. I have one 290 with hynix and one with elpida. The hynix one will do 1750Mhz and the elpida one wont go one mhz past 1600Mhz. Have not done any side ...
